The data protection law is intended to help informational self-determination, ensure privacy, and establish the security of legally protected secrets.

The data protection law balances individual’s data protection and the legitimate interests of the general public as well as public and private data processors. The focus is on collection, storage and transfer of personal data.

The current dominant topic is the implementation of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
